Gus Chavarria – Owner of PHOTOconcepts/Main Photographer
Gus has been a photographer for more than thirty years. He began PHOTOconcepts when his oldest daughter was only a few months old. He began investing in better camera equipment in order to take better photos of our babies. The more he added, the more Kristi – his wife – encouraged him to make some money to afford his passion. From that point on, Gus began his career as a professional photographer.
Gus has an exceptional gift in the technical aspects of photography. He understands how natural or artificial light must be used to create the best photos. He is very creative and enjoys the challenges behind artistic images. He believes that the easy way isn’t generally the best way and he works hard to be sure his photographic results are perfection. He is an exceptional communicator and is so organized that his clients are relaxed and assured that he will bring their photographic goals to life. His love of photography is apparent when you review his portfolio of work together. Every wedding, family, senior and sport image is different and unique because he strives to pull that special touch into his images. Now twenty years later, Gus loves photography even more and especially sharing his passion with his children. Cameron and Carissa create a wonderful team with their dad. They work so well together and so seamlessly that every moment is enhanced by the other. As a team, they the capture the story and personality behind each moment in time. We understand that photography is about your family and friends. Our family shares with your family.
Cameron Chavarria is one of our assistant photographers. She has been working as an understudy to Gus for more than four years now. She works with Gus at all engagement and/or bridal portrait sessions completing more than 80 shoots and weddings. She also photographs parties and sporting events with Gus. Cameron is a recognized artist with her photographic work displayed at the UT Dallas Art Gallery and many other art shows and galleries in Dallas/Fort Worth area. At a wedding, Cameron brings her eye of detail to each setting with PHOTOconcepts. Her job is to capture the fun between the bride and her attendants as they get ready for the wedding ceremony. Sometimes there is laughter and sometimes there are tears of joy, in either case, she is there to document that portion of the wedding story. These photos are in addition to Gus’ photos as the main photographer. She continues working as a photographer during receptions and loves capturing the excitement and fun during dinner and dances.
Carissa Chavarria has also worked for PHOTOconcepts actively for the last four years. Her role is to manage our PHOTObooth. She will work with the bride and groom on the background choice and the design of the photo strip customization. We offer several backgrounds ranging from black, red, blue, and camo. She will also work with any custom background the bride and groom may prefer. She can set up the booth as a “booth” or as a “photo lounge.” Carissa will manage the booth – providing instruction for each guest. She is able to manage large crowds and assist with props, masks, glasses, crazy wigs, hats and sunglasses. It’s generally considered on to be the best additional service provided at a wedding reception or event.
Carissa is also a second photographer prior to the event. She is often positioned in an area that allows her to capture very unique photos. She specializes in creative photography and loves capturing some of the more emotional moments such as the parent’s reactions and guest experiences during the ceremony. During the wedding, most brides and grooms do not have the time to sit back and see how all the details came together on their special day. Carissa creates exquisite photos of all the details including the elements on the bride’s gown, her shoes, the wedding bands, and all the beautiful ceremony and reception details such as flowers, candles and table top decorations.
